Quality Education Partnerships for the Goals

2023-07-25 A delegation from Srinakharinwirot University (SWU), the sister school of the National University of Kaohsiung in Thailand, led by President Somchai Santiwatanakul, recently visited. During the visit, President  Yueh-Tuan Chen of the National University of Kaohsiung warmly welcomed them and expressed both universities' commitment to further collaboration in teaching, research, faculty and student exchange, and sports.

Yueh-Tuan Chen stated that both universities established their sister school relationship and signed a student exchange agreement in 2018. Over the years, there has been frequent exchange of students and faculty. For example, in the 111th academic year, eight Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) students applied for exchange. With the global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic subsiding, she believes that the interaction between the two institutions will become even more frequent in the future. Notably, both universities share similar philosophies, placing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the core of their institutional governance. They actively collaborate with industries and society to fulfill their university's values and social responsibility.

The visiting delegation from Srinakharinwirot University (SWU) included

President Somchai Santiwatanakul, Vice President Prit Supasetsiri, Deans of various colleges, and heads of departments, totaling 20 members. SWU is Thailand's first national teachers' university, established in 1949 and named by King Bhumibol Adulyadej in honor of his mother, Queen Srinagarindra.

The Office of International Affairs at the National University of Kaohsiung coordinated this exchange activity between the two universities. Xing-Hao WU, Dean of International Affairs at NUK, mentioned that soccer is one of the national sports in Thailand. He highlighted that NUK is aligned with the national policy and has been actively developing soccer programs. The university's soccer team formed just a year ago, has already succeeded by winning the male third division championship in the University Football Association and advancing to the male second division. Wu expressed optimism about the potential for both universities to use sports exchanges to facilitate interactions among teachers, coaches, and athletes. This could further enhance cooperation in various fields.
