Mathematics is not just a science; it also can be used to create arts. Dr. Szu-En Cheng, professor fromDepartment of Applied Mathematics of National University of Kaohsiung (NUK) wrote mathematical equations, turned them into 3 dimensional graphics. Dr. Cheng won a special award of SURFER competition which was held by The Mathematical Society of the Republic of China (TMS).

“Mathematics, rightly viewed, possesses not only truth, but supreme beauty - a beauty cold and austere, like that of sculpture.” quoted from Bertrand Russell, a British philosopher, mathematician and Nobel literature prize winner

TMS also held an exhibition called “IMAGINARY: Infinity & Beyond” which demonstrates a variety of mathematical content contributed by experts in Taiwan. The exhibition is now taking place at National Chiayi University in Chiayi City until the end of June.
