Typhoon Meranti battered southern Taiwan and NUK
Typhoon Meranti battered southern Taiwan with heavy wind chills and torrential rain on September 14 and resulted in heavy damages for NUK campus such as electricity blackout, ripping up thousands of trees and smashing windows, and so on.
During the Typhoon, Dr. Leon Shyue-Liang Wang the President of National University of Kaohsiung (NUK), stayed overnight in the campus to ensure the safety and needs for faculty members and students stayed in the dormitory.
After the typhoon stroke, many faculty members and staffs of NUK led by President Wang devoted themselves and sacrificed their four days’ vacation of Mid-Autumn Festival to restore and recover the devastated campus. President Wang gave special thanks to many voluntary faculty members and the staffs of the division of general affairs for their great and unselfish efforts, and asked all the members of NUK to recover the beautiful campus together in the coming week.
