Commencement 2015
“CHILL” National University of Kaohsiung (NUK) conducted the 2015 commencement ceremony on June 6th. Graduating students and their families enjoyed popsicles provided by the school for the hot summer day.
The NUK 2015 Commencement was held at the university’s Hong Sze-Chuen Sports Dome. In his commencement address, NUK President Dr. Jow-Lay Huang encouraged the graduating class with the words of Laozi: “The best way to conduct oneself may be observed in the behavior of water.” As Laozi explained in the Dao De Jing, “Water is useful to every living thing, yet it does not demand pay in return for its services; it does not even require that it be recognized, esteemed, or appreciated for its services. If one proceeds without ambition or envy, everything works out for the best— for this is the way nature operates. “
Also present at the commencement, Dr. Ding-Shinn Chen, Academician from Academia Sinicia, and Kaohsiung City Deputy Mayor Chin-De Chen were invited to speak and extend congratulations to this year’s graduates.
