According to a survey by "Cheers" magazine called "College Students Most Favored by Enterprises," NUK has been ranked as the top "Medium-sized Public University" in both 2022 and 2023. President Yueh-Tuan Chen emphasized how important this recognition is from the businesses, which validates the school's efforts to connect learning with practical application and maintain strong relationships with industry. This recognition also serves as motivation for our graduates.
Yueh-Tuan Chen noted that AI and digital transformation will alter our economy and job market. However, we can improve our skills and develop cross-disciplinary expertise to face these challenges.
She also urged the graduates to use their skills and talents to benefit society and their country, taking inspiration from Chu Chen, the President of Control Yuan, who invited her to serve as the commissioner of the Legal Affairs Department. Chen's experiences in serving people helped her relate to others and perform better in decision-making processes.
During her tenure as the mayor of Kaohsiung, Chu Chen, the President of Control Yuan, was instrumental in the cleanup of Houjin Creek and the establishment of Youchang forest park. She expressed gratitude towards the Legal Affairs Department, under the leadership of Yueh-Tuan Chen, for their valuable contributions to the government and acknowledged her dedication to serving the NUK with this spirit.
During her speech to the graduates, Chu Chen imparted the wisdom of her life mentor, Yu-Xin Guo, who was a democracy advocate. Guo believed that when it came to the value of life, individuals could either strive for public respect or pursue fame and wealth. However, it was impossible to have both fame and fortune simultaneously, and each person had to make their own choice. She also encourages developing interpersonal skills, as opportunities favor the best prepared.
Legislative Yuan member Hsu Chih-chieh emphasized the importance of making choices and being accountable for actions. He shared that despite his initial plans to pursue further studies abroad after completing university, he enlisted in the military (NCSIST) for four years to save money for tuition fees due to his family's financial situation. Ultimately, he was still unable to achieve his dream. Making decisions can be difficult, requiring a blend of personal qualities such as wisdom, bravery, and uniqueness.
Zong-Ming Li, chairman of the NUK Alumni Association, participated in various events organized by different departments of the university. He was impressed by the dedication of students and encouraged graduates to stay in touch with their teachers and peers, join the alumni association, and support the school's development.
