On the 20th, Vice-President for Administration of the National University of Kaohsiung (NUK), Tsung-Fang Wu, led administrators and artists in the opening ceremony for the 10th public art on campus, titled “Le Zai Yiqi (Have Fun Together).” This artwork consists of two pieces in front of the Student Activity Center: one depicts an elephant joyfully dancing on one leg, while the other shows a left hand holding a baton. They encourage students to actively participate in club activities and become conductors of their lives.
The opening ceremony commenced with melodious music from the student club "NUK imusic." Tsung-Fang Wu expressed that the university places great importance on arts and humanities education, consistently inviting talented artists for creations. Starting from the establishment of "Earth Concerto" at the European Plaza during the early days to the recent addition of "Pini Huanyu, Jinglun Yuan Rong (Surveying the World, Integrating All)" located on the west side of the administrative building, along with the latest addition today, " Le Zai Yiqi (Have fun together),” there are now a total of ten public arts. The public is welcome to visit and appreciate these artworks, allowing art to be integrated into daily lives.
"Le Zai Yiqi (Have fun together)" is a collaborative creation by artists Lin Li-ren and Huang Yu-Rong. The two pieces consist of "Kuaile de da xiang (Happy Elephant)" and " Feng yue siji (Wind Blows Seasons)." The former primarily employs Italian Carrara white marble as its medium, featuring a lively, rounded, and adorable appearance, along with a playful one-legged dancing posture. This not only conveys a joyful and cheerful atmosphere but also imparts blessings of "peace and harvest throughout the world.”
The latter work, "Feng Yue Si Ji (Wind Blows Seasons)," is forged from stainless steel, with the palm painted in white enamel. The conductor's baton utilizes a rotating mechanism combined with the interaction of wind force to present slow and randomly changing curves. This is also the first grand wind-powered art piece to convey that the Student Activity Center is a space for students to realize their dreams, encourages students to participate in clubs, and makes their lives fulfilling.
NUK is committed to implementing the school's goal of "connecting with industry and society." In May of this year, the Sustainability Week event "Beautiful Green Life" served as a prelude to the public art "Le Zai Yiqi (Have fun together)." "Beautiful Green Life" invited two artists, Lin Li-ren and Huang Yu-Rong, to the school to conduct special lectures and host 12 sessions of stone carving workshops, attracting participation from faculty, students, and the public. The opening ceremony of "Le Zai Yiqi (Have fun together)" also expanded the workshop slots to provide more opportunities to experience and enjoy the charm of stone art.
